When the list of a fixed asset document — an FA invoice, a fixed assets change or any other — has no icon for adding a new document
and Brix shows the message “Depreciation has been calculated. No new documents can be entered.”, the reason is calculated depreciation.
Depreciation is calculated up to the end of the calendar year, regardless of when it is run. While the depreciation document exists, no new fixed asset document can be entered in that year, because it would change the base of the depreciation already calculated. The transfer of the opening balance to the next year, which closes that cycle, is possible only once the next year has started — see fa_ini_states.
Open the
[ Fixed Assets Changes ] form and cancel the current year's depreciation document with the delete icon in the bottom right corner of the list. If depreciation was created as 12 monthly documents, cancel all depreciation documents of that year.
Enter and approve the document that was blocked, e.g. the
FA invoice.
Run the
depreciation calculation again with the same settings as before cancelling. A fixed asset sold or written off in the meantime is no longer included in the new calculation.
Cancelling depreciation also deletes its accounting postings. If the period in which depreciation was posted has already been closed or filed, agree with your accountant before cancelling.
Run the depreciation calculation only once all fixed asset documents for the year have been entered — usually at year end. This avoids cancelling and recalculating.
