brix:en:invoices ====== Selling a fixed asset without the Fixed Assets module ====== A fixed asset (vehicle, machine, equipment) is not goods and cannot be sold as an item of type //Goods//: such an item has no stock, the invoice line is shown in purple and the invoice cannot be approved. Companies with the Fixed Assets module sell a fixed asset with the //**[ FA Invoices ]**// form, which calculates depreciation up to the day of sale and posts the derecognition of the asset itself. A company without that module records the sale with a service, following the procedure below. ===== Procedure ===== - In the //**[ Items ]**// form open a new item of type //Service//, e.g. named //Fixed asset sale//, and in the **//brix:en:goods:basic//** tab enter: * //**{VAT}**// — the VAT rate charged on the sale, * //**{KPD}**// — the section G code matching the asset sold, * //**{Service revenue account}**// — the revenue account for the sale of fixed assets. - In the //**[ Invoices ]**// form open a new invoice and add the //Fixed asset sale// service as a line. Enter the details of the asset sold (e.g. make, model and registration number of a vehicle) in the line //**{Description}**// and the selling price in //**{Unit Price}**//. - Approve the invoice. The invoice posts the receivable from the customer, the VAT liability and the revenue to the account entered on the service; the postings are shown in the **//brix:en:tab_journal//** tab. - Reconcile the postings with a journal entry in the //**[ Journal Entries ]**// form. Open the //Fixed asset sale// service once and reuse it for every later sale of a fixed asset — the details of the asset sold go into the invoice line description, not into the service name.
